Happiness and Meaning
In this project, we were given the task of creating a project that shows our happiness and meaning. For my project, I decided to write and produce a parody of into the wild. I wrote a 13 page script for my writing portion, and produced a scene from the script for my visual portion. I was seeking out the answer to the question "what makes you happy".
I learned a lot about myself during this project. First of all, before this project I did not think I really needed my phone. However, throughout this project I have learned that my phone is very very important to me. My goal of the project was to introduce what I believed into the story. Not only do I care a lot about my phone, but I also care a lot about my car and house. My car gets my places while my house gives me a very nice place to stay. It gives me warmth and security. Living out in the wild would be horrible and I can't even imagine what it would be like to choose to live out there. I always know where my next meal is coming from. It is also always guaranteed that I am going to get a next meal. Out there, there is no way to know. I think Chris was a fool and a waste of a life but however dumb I think he is, that is what he believed in.
I wonder how much I can really do without all of the things I know and love. Without people, places, things, I don't know if I could survive. My friend Claire was telling me about this time where she had to spend 24 hours in the woods alone. After asking a lot of questions, I realized that I personally could never do that. I need people, I need my things. Even spending 4 days out in the wilderness with a bunch of other people I started to miss my family and friends that were not on the trip. I used this in my script and showed that no matter how much someone thinks they can stay alone for long periods of time is wrong.

Voices of the Animas project
The Animas River is the heart of Durango, Colorado. At the end of summer, a tragic event happened where 3 million gallons of mine waste water spilled into the Animas River. The EPA was poking around in a mine up in Silverton called the Gold King Mine and mine water starting gushing from the mine. The water had many metals in it including Lead and Copper. It also had sulfuric acid that dissolve the metals and thats how they ended up in the water.
Before this project, I did not know very much about the Animas River. I mean I barely ever went in the water anyway. I honestly didn’t really care about the history of the river. But since the beginning of this project, I have learned a lot about the history of Durango and the history of the Animas. I also learned a lot about how mining worked up in SIlverton. I didn’t realize that this was such a big problem until it happened.
For my interview, I interviewed Mitchell Anderson. I talked with him about his potential solution to the problem. If you listen to my interview online, it tells you exactly what the solution is. It also tells you how it is going to work. You have to make an educated opinion if you think this solution could work.
I enjoyed myself during the exhibition. I led people around the questions and helped them understand what the questions were answering. I also listened to a couple of interviews which I enjoyed as well. I wish that there were more people at this exhibition but I still thought it was successful. If you ever do this project again, I would bring science experiments to the exhibition to make it a little more interesting for people.
I grew a lot during this project. I learned many perspectives of people in and around durango and how they were affected by this tragic event. You have to think about the fish that had to swim in this plume of toxic material. And you have to think about the animals, that were probably so thirty because they knew if they were to drink this water, they would probably die. There are so many new perspectives that I now think about.
